what would it be like to just focus on BEing today?

What a year (or four) it’s been. These are intense times.

Some of us are feeling challenged to find or keep our center. Some of us are managing through alright but keeping emotions at a distance. Some are doing pretty well and keeping up on self-care and connectedness in ways that are sustaining, but maybe there is still a sense of anxiety and inner stirring.

The tension is palpable here in the United States – leading up to this week in particular. There isn’t anyone I speak with who isn’t feeling it.

Our collective is being called upon to pay close attention and to do some serious repair and mending work.

There is so much “up” and so much that needs attention, from COVID to racial/ social justice, to rising political and social tensions and our beloved planet.

There is much to DO. I know I receive multitudes of emails a day of what actions I can take, where I can put my money, how I can be involved. And I feel the pull, as I’m sure you do, to be responsive, to DO, to ACT, to help make a difference and make this world better, in any and every way we can.

There is indeed more to do, and there will be plenty more to do in coming days, months and years.

And right now, in this moment, I want to encourage you to just BE.

It’s okay.

Just BE.

It’s been a hard lesson for me to learn, I’ll confess. And I keep coming back to the lesson, probably daily.

It’s one that is commonly arising for people - one I’ve been working on with others on a weekly basis in recent months – from clients to colleagues to friends.

We are DO-ers. We want to change the world, make it better, do our part, not just stand by.

And, for this moment, I want to send a note of love, peace, protection, compassion, kindness, and permission… to just take a few breaths. And then a few more.

And notice your BE-ing.

Listen.

Listen for what is arising in your mind, your heart, your body. What is arising for you, what do you hear that you can’t hear when you are in the DOING?

Pause.
Breathe.
Listen.
Repeat.

No judgment on what you uncover, it’s all good. We are just practicing listening and being.

If we organize our DOING from a place of first BEING, of LISTENING, of turning inward, then our doing can be that much more powerful, effective, and aligned.

Would you like a bit of connection and kindness and to practice that inner stillness and listening, in community?

Our last virtual retreat was healing and connected and beautiful. It was just what the doctor ordered.

Connection, kindness, diving in, and deep listening are essential right now, for our well-being, for our sustaining, our parenting and caring, and for our work of doing changemaking in the world.

If you’d like to join for the next retreat, please put Sunday afternoon, November 15 in your calendar.

We’ll gather again. I’ll be sending more information soon.

For now, big breaths, big blessings, big hugs and waves of calm to you.

Go BE.

And I’d love to hear how just being feels to you.

With love,
Kelly
